Birthday Dinner

+ [Italian Kitchen Review]

Over the weekend, my amazing partner took me out for an early birthday dinner to celebrate. Italian Kitchen is located downtown, and we had a very filling night. The restaurant is part of the Glowbal Collection, which is a group of high caliber eating establishments in the city. I was craving pasta that night, and so we had a lot of pasta!

The décor was classy and elegant, with sultry upbeat music playing in the background. It was quite busy on the weekend so I would recommend making a reservation beforehand. We were seated on the upper floor facing a floor-to-ceiling glass window complete with a white tablecloth and flickering candle in the center, which was super romantic. Continue reading

Coffee Musings

+ [49th Parallel & Lucky’s Doughnuts Review]

Being a blogger, I am constantly searching for cute coffee shops to work in. As far as Instagram-worthy food shots are concerned, marble tabletops and coffee take the top tier. Urban Tea Merchant Review

Living in a modern urban city, we are blessed with a classic assortment of fine afternoon tea options to choose from. Today, I will be talking about the Urban Tea Merchant, located centrally in Downtown Vancouver and a short walk from Pacific Centre.

The first floor is comprised of their retail section containing walls of charmingly packaging teas as well as tea-infused candles and other goods. There is seating next to this section, and the main dining area is upstairs on the second floor. The interior décor was more classic and European-inspired; it felt like we were in a tea salon on the streets of Paris!

Kishimoto Review

Last night we went to Kishimoto, a Japanese restaurant on Commercial Drive that always has a long line, mainly because the seating is limited and they do not take reservations. My tip for an early dinner would be to arrive there 10 minutes before it opens to ensure you receive a spot! The atmosphere is cozy, with wood paneling and decorative lanterns. The food itself is phenomenal in its presentation. They use an array of candles, edible flowers, and other decorative items to make your plate look extremely pretty and appetizing.
