TIPS FOR STYLING A CAMEL COAT

IMG_0750Camel coats are versatile and make great layering pieces for a variety of outfits. This light taupe duster coat in particular is quite long, and honestly makes me feel like a TV show detective whenever I wear it! Read along for tips on how to elegantly style this type of attire.IMG_0739IMG_0768

Tip 1: Play with Lengths

For a draping overcoat such as this one, it can be easy to get swallowed up by the mountain of fabric. Adding a bit of a heel, even a small one, will help to elongate your legs. Choosing a shorter hemline on your dress or skirt will aid in defining your silhouette (would not recommend a maxi dress unless you are really tall).  I can still manage to stay relatively warm because the length of this piece shields from the elements when bundled up.

Tip 2: Layering

Here I’ve kept it simple by pairing the coat with a black skater dress and suede ankle boots. For a more formal ensemble, you can try wearing a white blouse and dark trousers for an office environment. This garment also looks fantastic with a white blazer layered underneath for a bright accent.

Tip 3: Textures and Colours

Clothing tinted beige and tan can blend easily into the background, so mixing in vibrant colours such as blue or purple will add a lot of interest. With that said, I do enjoy pairing this coat with other neutral shades such as black or white because they come together easily to form a seamless outfit that is easy on the eyes. Since this style of coat is usually consists of a soft and felt-like material, to have fun with textures you can incorporate denim for a more casual vibe or leather accent pieces for a more edgy look.
