Afternoon tea is one of the most relaxing experiences on the planet. The setting at Fairmont Pacific Rim makes it even better. White marble tables, long glass windows, radiant fireplaces; a visual symphony that makes the heart sing. Add in live music and you have the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of laughter and girl chat.
The selection of teas at this location is smaller compared to other places but you do have your traditional earl grey and english breakfast tea options. Yesterday we tried the spicy chai and mad hatter blends, with the latter being a fruitier drink. Having been here twice for afternoon tea, I have to say that the scones are divine. Light and crisp at first, with a rich buttery undertone and dried fruit inside that will leave a sweet aftertaste lingering on your tongue.
The three-tier set itself is placed on a fabulous golden platter and the presentation is spot on. This is composed of both classic tea sandwiches as well as an unexpected twist with the addition of a sushi theme. Our favourite treat was the matcha layer cake because of its sharp, intense green tea flavour, although all the sweets were delightful. In the end, this Fairmont Lobby Lounge is decidedly more of a modern and fresh take on afternoon tea rather than a traditional one.
